What is Transformative Acupuncture?
Transformative Acupuncture is the use of acupuncture to support and augment our spiritual practice and development. Rather than treating physical health problems specifically, it focuses on supporting changes in consciousness and spiritual development.A Different Use of Acupuncture.
Transformative Acupuncture draws on chakra patterns, the Extra Meridians, Dragon Patterns, Ghost Points, traditional point combinations and original patterns developed through my own practice. They are brought together within a spiritually coherent structure: an initiatory arc of clearing, restoration, expansion, purification, vision and renewal. It brings acupuncture into conversation with initiatory practice, Western mystery traditions and the older understanding of acupuncture in which the Spirit of the person was central.Let's begin by letting let go of adding more.
This is not about becoming someone else. It is about allowing more of who you already are to become available.Personal or spiritual development is often presented as a means to acquire something more: more knowledge, more ability, new practices or a better version of ourselves. Transformative Acupuncture begins by simply asking what is no longer needed. Rather than beginning with the question, “What is wrong and how can it be treated?”, it begins with a much simpler (but more profound) offer:
- What is obstructing you?
- What are you carrying that is not you?
- What is seeking to emerge?
- What would allow you to see and follow your path more clearly?
Simply focussing on these and enabling us to see our patterns and release them, more and more, is transformative in itself.
So the initial work is concerned with allowing this to loosen and fall away. Perhaps slightly. Perhaps entirely. What matters is that more space and freedom becomes available.
From there, the work can move towards restoration, expanded awareness, purification, vision and renewal. Your existing practice then has more room in which to deepen and take root in your own lived experience.
This works with your existing path and practice.
There is no new system to believe in here. No pre-decided destination of where the sessions 'should' or will end up. There are no exercises to learn or practice (although I do recommend journalling). The sole purpose is to create a coherent framework within which your own process can unfold. This allows the work to sit alongside meditation, Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, psychological work, religious practice, Western mystery traditions or whatever your individual path and practice is. You do not need to adopt any new philosophy or belief system. Transformative Acupuncture works with you as a person and with the path you are already working with.

What is this type of Acupuncture like?.
Transformative. And highly individual. The same pattern can be experienced quite differently by different people. It may also feel different when repeated because you are no longer in precisely the same place as you were before.
Although it depends on which stage we are working in, individuals receiving Transformative Acupuncture often experience states of consciousness quite different from their normal waking state. Experiences of greater insight and perception of spiritual matters are commonly reported. This is more common with the chakra patterns and the later visionary pattern. The extra meridian treatments are more subtle but can feel deeper and more nourishing. But this is a guide only.
Each of us will experience the patterns in our own way depending on our own energetic state, and each session will be different for us even when repeating the same pattern because we will have changed after the preceding treatment.
Of course, this means that what you will experience will be unique to you.
If you are interested in the physical practicalities of how treatments work (especially in the early stages), you can read more here: [What happens during a treatment?]
What happens after a treatment?
The effects of a treatment can often ripple out into our lives and be reflected back at us in everyday events over the days or weeks following a pattern. Such synchronicity is a commonly reported ‘after-effect' of a treatment. It is important to pay attention to our dreams, our intuition, our thought patterns and emotions after a treatment as effects can be reflected in all of these aspects of ourselves, as well as in our spiritual practice.Changes in one's spiritual practice can occur: a deepening of understanding or perception, or the start of a new direction in one's practice. Sometimes a person can embark on an entirely new phase of life, because more of who they really are can now be expressed into the world.
Working with this approach genuinely supports profound changes in a person. It is a privilege to work with a person over time and to play a part in supporting their transformation into becoming more of who they truly are.
Come for who you want to be, stay for who you are.
A slightly light-hearted description but apt non-the-less. My purpose is not to ask you to add another system, another identity or yet another set of techniques to learn. We've all experienced far too much of that I think. My offer is of something much more simple: let's give you and your practice some additional support. Athletes have specialist support for their primary practice, why shouldn't spiritual practitioners? Transformative Acupuncture provides a coherent and progressive structure to support you and your practice in whatever direction that arises as your way.A Distinct Synthesis.
Transformative Acupuncture has developed through more than two decades of acupuncture practice, extensive inner training and my own continuing path of personal and spiritual development. It brings together ancient point traditions, esoteric approaches to acupuncture, chakra and Extra Meridian work, original pattern creation and the structure of initiation. This particular synthesis is distinctive to my practice.
Each person’s experience remains their own. I cannot say in advance what you will encounter or what meaning it will have for you. My role is to offer a consistent, grounded and spiritually coherent structure; to accompany the process over time; and to give what emerges sufficient space to be recognised and integrated.
Transformative Acupuncture is not a substitute for necessary medical or psychological care. Its primary purpose is not the treatment of physical illness, although health concerns are discussed and given appropriate attention as part of working responsibly with the whole person.
